Muktinath, also known as Muktichhetra (the place of liberation), is one of Nepal’s four major religious sites and holds deep spiritual importance for both Hindus and Buddhists. This sacred site is renowned for its natural presence of Shaligram (Ammonite fossils), believed by Hindus to embody the soul of Lord Vishnu. It is also one of the 108 Vaishnava shrines, surrounded by breathtaking scenery that adds to its spiritual allure. From the temple grounds, visitors are treated to panoramic views of the snow-capped Annapurna Range to the south and the vast Tibetan plateau to the north. Each year, festivals like Ram Nawami, Rishi Tarpani, and Vijaya Dashami draw thousands of devotees to this revered temple.
The Muktinath Yatra and Darshan Tour by Adventure Himalayan Travels is a thoughtfully designed 6-day spiritual journey that begins in Kathmandu. The tour follows the scenic Prithvi Highway, passing through terraced rice fields and rolling hills. Along the way, we make a special stop at the Manakamana Temple, where travelers can offer prayers to the wish-fulfilling goddess. After an overnight stay in the lakeside city of Pokhara, we take a short flight to Jomsom—gateway to the Mustang region. From Jomsom, a brief drive takes us to our ultimate destination: Muktinath, the sacred place of liberation.
